Gender equality is fundamental to inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development. At Sustainedge, we work to address systemic gender disparities and advance the rights, representation, and well-being of women and marginalised groups across multiple sectors—especially in the garment industry, urban governance, and climate resilience. Our approach is grounded in intersectionality, data-driven analysis, and collaboration with diverse stakeholders to transform commitments into measurable outcomes. By integrating gender equality into institutional frameworks, planning systems, and local development processes, we contribute directly to SDGs 5, 8, 11, and 13, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of sustainable and equitable progress.
What We Do
Research
- We examine occupational segregation, wage gaps, leadership disparities, gender-based violence, and workplace safety; assess unequal access to urban services and infrastructure; and develop monitoring frameworks using disaggregated data aligned with SDG 5, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), and ILO standards.
- Our research investigates gender pay gaps, leadership barriers, and workplace harassment in supply chains; analyses gendered risks in climate change and urbanisation through an intersectional lens; and develops toolkits and training materials to support gender mainstreaming in policies and programmes.
Policy
- We align workplace policies with ILO standards on violence prevention, equal pay, maternity protection, and anti-discrimination; support governments in integrating gender into climate adaptation and urban policy; and align gender strategies with the SDGs and the UNFCCC Gender Action Plan.
- We facilitate dialogue among workers, management, unions, and governments to boost women’s leadership, mobilise civil society and the private sector for gender-responsive urban planning and climate resilience, and support campaigns promoting intersectional advocacy and women’s participation.
Action
- We provide gender-focused training modules on workplace harassment prevention, non-discrimination, and women’s leadership, delivered in online, self-paced, and in-person formats with practical case studies. We also deliver targeted training for urban planners and officials on gender-sensitive design and climate adaptation.
- We lead factory-level actions to reduce bias, prevent harassment, close wage gaps, and promote inclusive governance through gender committees. We support policy updates and reporting systems aligned with ILO standards and implement gender-responsive urban planning and climate resilience programmes.
