Climate Change

Climate change poses a profound threat to lives, livelihoods, and ecosystems, particularly for vulnerable communities in urban and rural areas. At Sustainedge, we approach climate resilience as a cross-cutting priority that integrates risk reduction, inclusive adaptation, and nature-based solutions. We work at the intersection of science, policy, and practice to support communities, local governments, and institutions in anticipating climate risks and implementing adaptive responses. From regenerative agriculture and resilient infrastructure to climate governance and capacity building, our work contributes to SDGs 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, and 16, aligning global goals with local action to build a just, climate-resilient future for all.

What We Do

Research

  • We conduct spatial mapping and climate hazard profiling using scenario-based modelling; carry out socio-economic and sectoral vulnerability assessments and Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessments (CRVAs) with our proprietary tools; assess heat risk and heat vulnerability; and engage communities in participatory risk identification.
  • Our studies cover climate impacts, heat stress and heat-health risks, nature-based solutions (NbS), and climate-smart agriculture; develop community risk maps, early warning systems, and gender-sensitive vulnerability analyses; and generate evidence to inform climate policy, heat resilience, and inclusive adaptation planning.

Policy

  • We integrate resilience, including heat resilience, and disaster risk reduction (DRR) into urban planning, infrastructure, and land-use policies; develop climate adaptation and Heat Action Plans aligned with Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and SDG targets, with a focus on vulnerable communities; and promote nature-based solutions through inclusive governance frameworks.
  • We promote climate resilience in national and local development planning, advocate for gender-responsive, inclusive policies that support community-led adaptation and heat-health preparedness, and facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogue to build coalitions that influence climate-smart investment.

Action

  • We deliver training on CRVA, EbA, NbS, and Heat Action Planning; build capacity in climate-smart agriculture, resilient livelihoods, heat-health preparedness, and early warning systems; and provide practical toolkits and simulation-based learning for community and institutional use.
  • We implement green infrastructure and nature-based solutions, including urban greening and rainwater harvesting, to mitigate urban heat, support climate-smart agriculture and community-led adaptation planning, strengthen heat early warning and response systems, and enhance infrastructure resilience through integrated risk communication and emergency preparedness.
